Update 10/19/2009: I spent some time this morning registering on the Daring Kitchen website. I am very excited about this month’s featured recipe and even more excited that October’s two challenges are Asian recipes. The first challenge is Vietnamese Chicken Pho or Pho Ga. There are two versions of Jaden Hair’s recipe. The first is a quick pho and the second requires you to make the stock from scratch. I’m only here one weekend this month (this coming weekend) and then we’re off to my Mom’s for Halloween and her birthday the following weekend. That said, I don’t want to gyp myself out of this month’s challenge. I’ve decided to make the quick pho this Tuesday for practice and indulge in the longer recipe on Halloween. I might even make pho at my Mom’s on Saturday, the 31st!
The second challenge is Chocolate Wontons&. I’m going to make the chocolate wontons this Saturday, the 31st, at my mom’s house. To satisfy everyone’s tastes, I will make some with dark chocolate filling, some with milk chocolate filling and get creative with a few. Some great combinations that come to mind right away are two old standbys and two new, fresh ideas:
- dark chocolate and raspberry
- dark chocolate and grand marnier
- chocolate and green tea
- chocolate and ginger
What? It is an Asian dish, after all!
