76 – Give up soda for 1001 days

Update 1/25/2010: I have not consumed soda in 104 days. While you may think, “no big deal”, first you should understand that I’ve spent 10 of those 104 days around Angela who averages six Diet Pepsi’s per day and 17 of those 104 days around my Mom who keeps soda IN THE HOUSE and orders Diet Coke with every meal. And then there is Jason who drinks an average of 2 cans of soda per day in the house which means we have a few cases of soda hanging out in the closet. But who hasn’t touched that soda? Me. Me! That’s who! In case you missed it, I totally rock.

Update 10/19/2009: Woke up to the alarm today. I’m still a little tired but the bathroom floor is no longer necessary or appealing. I don’t miss soda yet; on the other hand, I haven’t been to a party or consumed pizza or burgers yet. Wonder what my new pizza/burgers drink will be now that soda is verboten…

Update 10/18/2009: Took out the recycling from the last three weeks and decided to count the empty soda cans and figure out the average per day soda consumption I indulged in prior to October 13th. I’m in shock. Did I really drink an average of 48 ounces of caffeinated soda per day? Thank god it was diet soda! No wonder I want to die.

Update 10/17/2009: Pulled my ass off the cold bathroom floor only to go out into the cold rainy day and spend two hours pulling items out of the Drama Club closet at school. I am tired. I am exhausted. My head still hurts a little.

Update 10/16/2009: Still have a headache. Still spending an inordinate amount of time on the cold bathroom floor.

Update 10/15/2009: Kill. Me. Now. I woke up with a headache, worked with a headache and now, even after 64 ounces of water, a cup of hot tea and three Advil, still have this freaking headache. I am going to lie down and die on the cold bathroom floor.

Update 10/14/2009: Woke up with a mild headache. I think I’ll just drink more water today. So far, this is a piece of cake. I really thought this would be harder. I’m a little tired and snappy with the kids at Drama Club but I think that’s just because it is a busy week.

Update 10/13/2009:    Giving up soda is not so bad.  Granted, today is day one.  We’ll see how I feel when the caffeine withdrawal headache hits.    That said, it shouldn’t be too bad.   I don’t drink a lot of soda.    I sent the last of the soda out of the house with Jason.   He took it to work since he, smart man that he is, did not put down a goal to give up soda for almost three years.
